The three teams that were relegated from the Ghana Premier League in the just ended season are likely to play in next season’s league.
Techiman Eleven Wonders, West African Football Academy and Elmina Sharks were relegated while Nsoatreman FC, Samartex FC and Kotoku Royals have gained promotion to the Ghana Premier League.

There are reports that next season’s league will have 20 teams instead of 18 teams, therefore, should the proposal for a 20-team league get approval, the three relegated teams will get a second chance to fight for a place in the next season’s league.
The reason why the three relegated teams might play in next season’s league is due to Ashanti Gold SC’s demotion for match-fixing two seasons ago. Though Ashanti Gold has made an appeal, there are reports that they might not win the case. Should they win the case, then things might change for the three relegated teams.
Due to Ashanti Gold’s demotion, there are currently 17 teams for the 2022/2023 season instead of 18 teams.
