Small scale miners are calling on the government to lift the ban on small scale mining. The ban which the current administration placed on small scale mining was to help fight illegal mining in the country.
The miners who have had no other option than to stay home for months are begging the President to lift the ban so that they can begin work.
Some of the miners indicated before the ban, they went in for loans to invest in their business. But due to the overdue of the ban, they are finding it difficult to pay the banks.
Albeit the small scale miners are happy with the steps the government is taking to tackle illegal mining, they want the ban to be lifted and replaced with laws that will make it difficult for illegal miners to operate in the country.
They also want the government to fulfill the promised it made to help small scale miners work in the country without fear of their business collapsing.
