Small-scale miners in the country have expressed their joy after the President, Nana Addo, yesterday indicate he is outlining the roadmap that will put an end to the ban on small-scale mining.
The miners who indicated some weeks ago they will be embarking on a demonstration after the announcement have now made it clear they have suspended the demonstration.
Togbe Afede, the President of the National House of Chiefs after the announcement by the President added his voice to it, saying, Nana Addo should not lift the ban.
The small-scale miners according to them were shocked by Togbe Afede’s comment.
Since the start of the ban, the small-scale miners have been saying the ban has not only affected them but it has also affected banks as well as people who sell spare parts.
They believe the announcement by the President is not for them only but also for those who were affected by the ban.
