Small Scale miners have indicated they are going to hit the streets of Kumasi on the 26 of this month to demonstrate against the ban on small-scale mining.
The miners are saying the ban is not only affecting them but it is also having an effect on banks, the sale of spare parts at Suame Magazine and other things.
The ban which was placed on small-scale mining to help fight illegal mining (galamsey) has taken too long according to the small-scale miners.
They indicated they have been knocking on the doors of the President after the ban was extended but it seems the President is not ready to open his doors to them.
The miners have therefore decided to go on a demonstration as it is the only way to make the government heed to their demand.
They have chosen the name (Ku me preko) the President used in the 90s to demonstrate against President JJ Rawlings’ administration.
