Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker, Francis Akwaffo has chosen Stephen Oduro as his greatest Ghanaian player of all time.
The former Al Ittihad player played for Kotoko for 11 years with the likes of Osei Kuffour, Yussif Alhassan Chibsah, Stephen Oduro, Baba Amando, Odartey Lamptey and a host of other great players.
Akwaffo told Don Summer that although he has played with great players, Stephen Oduro and Joe Louis are the best Ghanaian players he has ever seen but Oduro is the “best.”
“I’ve played with Osei Kuffuor, Odartey Lamptey, Baba Armando, Charles Taylor, Stephen Oduro. I am not close to them in term of age so I learned a lot from these stars,” he told Don Summer.
“I remember one of our games at Kotoko, Stephen came to me and told me I have three goals in the game and indeed I scored three goals and that is why I always say Stephen Oduro is the best Ghanaian player I have ever seen,” he said, “and Joe Louis,” he added.
Akwaffo who said he is still considering offers on his table said he considers playing time more than money when signing for a club.
Akwaffo was selected to play for Kotoko when he was a student at Kumasi High School in 1999 and signed a 7 years contract with the club. He won the 3 Premier Leagues, 1 FA Cup, 1 Top Four and 1 Gala.
