Suspected thief beaten to pulp by some UG students

A distressing incident unfolded at Evandy Hostel, located within the premises of the University of Ghana, as a group of students took matters into their own hands when they apprehended a suspected thief. Disturbing footage of the incident was shared on Twitter by a user named Sika Official and subsequently caught the attention of GhanaWeb.

The video depicts a mob of students viciously assaulting the young man, who was shirtless, using sticks as weapons. The intensity of the beating caused the suspect to run away in an attempt to escape the relentless assault, his black shorts revealing his boxer shorts as he fled.

In a subsequent video, the thief was seen lying on his back, blood staining his face and dripping down his chest, a clear indication of the severity of the injuries he sustained during the assault.

It is important to note that resorting to violence and taking the law into one’s own hands is not only illegal but also goes against the principles of justice and human rights. While the actions of the suspected thief are condemnable, it is crucial to let the legal authorities handle such matters and ensure that due process is followed.
