Tamale City recorded a stunning victory over former Ghana Premier League champions, Hearts of Oak, beating them 4-1 in their match at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Wednesday.
Despite being debutants in the GPL, Tamale City showed their dominance and determination, outclassing the Phobians in the 28th week of the top-flight league.
Sampson Eduku, who has been outstanding for Tamale City this season, opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 17th minute. He went on to double his side’s lead in the 35th minute, giving Tamale City a comfortable 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, Mohammed Yahaya scored Tamale City’s third goal, but Victor Aidoo pulled one back for Hearts of Oak. However, in the dying minutes of the match, Isaac Mensah sealed the victory for Tamale City with their fourth and final goal.
This impressive win lifted Tamale City to the 13th position on the league table with 35 points, while Hearts of Oak slipped to the 6th spot with 42 points after 28 matches.
