The family of the deceased recounts that the tragic incident took place on Thursday afternoon, June 15, 2023. An unprovoked teenager launched a vicious attack on the victim, causing severe cutlass wounds before brutally crushing his head with a stick.
The news of the elderly man’s murder has left the family, friends, and sympathizers gathered at his house in a state of immense grief, shedding uncontrollable tears, and expressing their profound pain and anger.
The victim, identified as Dary Gombo in a report by Citinewsroom.com, was a highly respected farmer within the Baleofiili community. His untimely demise has not only saddened those who knew him but has also deeply disturbed them, as they struggle to comprehend how a 17-year-old could perpetrate such violence without any provocation.
In addition to the loss of their beloved farmer, mourners are also grappling with the brutal assault on the deceased’s wife. She cried out for help during the attack and was mercilessly beaten. Currently, she is undergoing treatment at the Wa West district hospital in Wichaw.
The police have arrested the accused teenager, who is now in custody and cooperating with ongoing investigations at Wichaw.
