Teenager dies after falling into a galamsey pit

A teenager has died after falling into a galamsey pit at a town in Atwima-Mponua District in the Ashanti Region.

The 17-year old teenager, who has just completed Junior High School was with five friends when the incident happened.

According to the report, the teenager, whose name has been given as Enock went out with his friends to do galamsey deep in the night.

While trying to find gold, his friends said they heard someone shout, asking what they are doing there?
In an attempt to escape from the person, Enoch fell into the pit with water and was found dead hours later.

The police are investing the matter while the body of the teenager has been sent to a morgue at Toase.
