Senegalese champions Teungueth FC have shockingly knocked-out Moroccan powerhouse Raja Casablanca out of the CAF Champions League round of 32.
Raja were semi-finalists in the previous edition of the tournament where they lost to Zamalek.
The Green Eagles seemed to have had a pretty straight forward journey in the 2020/2021 season as they were drawn with Senegal’s Teungueth FC.
The first leg ended in a boring goalless draw and with the second leg taking place at home, Raja were favorites to qualify for the group stages.
However, they were held to yet another 0-0 draw in the second leg, with the pitch’s poor condition due to heavy rain not playing in their favor.
The game was then sent to a penalty shootout which saw them suffer a 3-1 defeat.
Raja will therefore compete in the CAF Confederation Cup, while their Senegalese counterpart will partake in their first-ever Champions League group stages.
Raja become the only semi-finalists from last year not to qualify for the group stages. Arch-rivals Wydad Casablanca are still waiting to see if they can overcome the 1-0 defeat against Stade Malien on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, Egyptian giants Al Ahly and Zamalek have already cemented their spots in the next round.
