The Member of Parliament for Sekyere Afram Plains, Alex Adomako Mensah has said farmers and Ghanaians should thank God for the bumper harvest this year and not the NPP government.
Speaking on Kessben FM on the farmers day, he said if the government wants to be praised for the bumper harvest then it should be ready to accept criticisms.
He added it is not the Planting for Food and Jobs policy that has led to the increase in food production but rather the work of God.
‘The Planting for Food and Jobs,’ he said ‘is done on party lines.’
He accused the NPP government of sharing the fertilizers and the farming implements for only their party members.
He also said the farmers are struggling as there are warehouses for the farmers to store their products like the government is saying.
‘We should thank the farmers [for the increase in food supply] and not the government.’
‘There will be hunger in about two to three months’ time because of the harmattan,’ he added.
He has urged the government to put in a good measure to help the farmers and the people of Ghana.
