General Manager of Asante Kotoko, Nana Gyambibi Coker has revealed that the least paid player at the club takes home a monthly salary of GHs1500.
Coker says he has been forced to publicly state the salaries of some of their players because a lot of people are under the impression that all the clubs in Ghana pay their players poorly.
He says while it is true that some clubs pay their players low salaries, it is not right to use that as a basis to disregard the topic of salary cuts in the face of the suspension of the league due to the coronavirus pandemic.
To him, the majority of the Premier League clubs are silent on the issue of pay cut because they are shy to do a public declaration on the salaries of their players.
Speaking to Light FM, he said “The least paid player at Kotoko receives GHS1,500.00 and they are consistently paid with no disrespect to other clubs.
“The last time the GFA Executive Council met concerning pay cut of the players, most of the clubs were shy to declare the salaries of their players and disagreed to the pay cut because the amount isn’t encouraging” he added.
