George Anane, headteacher of Miles 9 D/A JHS at Amansie Central in the Ashanti Region is asking all stakeholder to help the girls in his school as more and more girls are getting pregnant.
The headteacher made the pleading after all efforts by him and the Assemblyman in the area have failed to convince the girls to stick to their books.
This, he stated has affected the education of girls in his school.
According to him, about 24 girls in his school were pregnant when they wrote the just ended BECE.
‘The 24 girls were those they officially identified’, he said.
George Anane said he blames the incident is as a result of the galamseyers in the country.
The galamseyers, he believes, use their money to lure the girls to have sex with them.
Also, they have noticed that it is also a result of poverty and lack of parental control.
George Anane and the Assemblyman, Simon Kwadwo Antwi wants the government to intervene so as to help the girls in the area.
Reports from the area indicate teenage pregnancy has been on the rise since 2014.
Although the local authorities have been using all means to advise the girls, they also indicated ‘the more they advise them, the more they give pregnant’.
