There are some things in life when we do them, we find it difficult to forgive ourselves unless we finally get the chance to do the right thing and clear our conscience.
One anonymous shoplifter has got the chance to finally clear his conscience 40 years after stealing 2 bars of chocolate from a shop.
The unknown shoplifter sent a letter to Belle Valle Shopping Centre saying “I stole two bars of chocolate from Woolworths in your shopping centre in 1975, when I was a little boy.”
“I apologise, I didn’t know any better here’s the money I owe you for them”, the person added.
A £5 note was enclosed in the letter to pay for the chocolates the person stole in 1975.
The money according to bosses at Belle Vale, will be donated to Zoe’s Place as Woolworth is no longer in business.
“In a time of division, it is great to see an act of kindness that restores faith in humanity”, a spokesman for Belle Vale told the Liverpool Echo.
