The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the robbery and murder of two mobile money vendors in Kumasi. However, a fourth suspect remains at large, with authorities calling on the public for assistance in tracking him down.
The arrested suspects—Charles Kwame Danso, 23, also known as Kwame Charles or Miami, Philip Fordjour, 29, and Samuel Addae Mensah, 42—were picked up on March 21, 2025, at Pankrono and Atimatim, respectively.
They are currently in police custody and will soon be arraigned before court to face the full weight of the law.
Police pursue fourth suspect
Meanwhile, the police are actively searching for a fourth suspect, identified as Martin Amoah, also known as Augustine Amoah or Baba Macho. He is believed to be hiding in Kumasi, Diaso near Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Central Region, or Accra.
During a press briefing in Kumasi on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, urged the public to assist in tracking down Baba Macho.
“Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the Police via Toll-Free number 191,112 (18555 MTN and Telecel),” he appealed.
He further reassured the public of the police’s commitment to justice.
“The Ashanti Regional Police Command remains committed to ensuring justice is served and urges the public to remain vigilant in helping to bring all responsible individuals to justice,” he stated.
Background
The first incident occurred on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Krofrom, where the victim, Patricia Nimako, was brutally murdered during a robbery.
The second attack happened on the night of Monday, March 10, 2025, when another mobile money vendor, Gideon Owusu Sarpong, also known as Junior, was robbed and killed at his residence in Kwadaso.
The arrests mark a major breakthrough in the case, but police are determined to ensure all culprits are brought to book. The public is advised to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement in bringing the final suspect to justice.
