A 42-year-old farmer has been struck dead by thunder and lightning at Assin kweku Adu, a farming community in the Assin North District of the Central region.
According to reports, the incident which occurred Wednesday around 6:30 pm also rendered four others injured.
Recounting the incident, a surviving victim Yaw Gyan told Kingdom FM‘s Osiadeyo Adu Gyamfi Marfo that, they were returning home after a hard-day- work at the farm when the rain accompanied by heavy thunderstorm and lightening begun.
He said, they, therefore, run to a nearby house for protection but all efforts proved futile.
He further disclosed that, in a gathering of about 5 people, a bright light struck Kojo Donkor dead instantly and burnt his stomach through his waist.
An amount GH¢60.00 in his pocket also got burnt in the process.
His remains have been deposited at the St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu.
Meanwhile, the four other victims, including an 8-year-old boy are currently receiving treatment at St Francis Xavier Hospital.
