Truck drivers operating within the Tema Port enclave have expressed their intention to embark on a sit-down strike action beginning Monday, May 6, 2024.
In a notice issued, the action is to address a number of pressing concerns they are facing. These include unlawful detention and harassment, attacks by armed robbers, and demands for illicit payments, among others.
The truck drivers are calling for immediate action to be taken to address these concerns, stating that from May 6, no trucks will be operating at the ports.
Additionally, the truck drivers plan to hold a press briefing on Monday, May 6, at the JAPTU Ghana Secretariat located at the Tema Port to further clarify their position.
