Kyadondo East MP Bobi Wines new song about police brutality dubbed Afande has been banned in Uganda.
The song, which was launched on platforms such as YouTube on Thursday, April 25, was banned just hours after it was released due to its ”controversial and political” nature.
TUKO.co.ke has learnt the politician recorded the multilingual song while under house arrest.
This, he revealed in a Tweet dated Tuesday, April 23.
“I used the past two days under house arrest to compose a song which I now dedicated to our men and women in Uniform,” he tweeted.
On YouTube, Wine claimed the song was a dedication to police officers appreciating their dedication but condemning their brutality at the same time.
”Dear friends, I used the past two days under house arrest to compose a song which I now dedicate to our men in uniform. While we are very grateful for the sacrifices they make to keep us and our country safe, we implore them to stop being used to violate the rights of the citizens. Enjoy and Share,” he described the song.
The latest development came just days after he was arrested and put under house arrest.
As reported by TUKO.co.ke earlier, Bobi was arrested on Monday, April 22, as he tried to access the venue of his Kyarenga Concert at One Love beach in Busabala.
Police claimed the musician’s event managers did not meet some of the standards put in place for a concert to happen.
The politician was taken put under house arrest but outsmarted the police and varnished into thin air.
