BBC.com has reported that Retired Col Charles Okello Engola, the Ugandan Deputy Minister for Labour, was shot and killed at his home in the capital city of Kampala on Tuesday morning.
The shooting was carried out by his bodyguard, who has not yet been officially identified. The bodyguard reportedly shot the minister before walking through the neighbourhood shooting in the air, and then taking his own life minutes later.

The incident also resulted in injuries to a number of people. Col Engola had previously served as a deputy minister for defence.
