The Winneba campus of the University of Education has been shut down indefinitely by the Central Regional Security Council following a protest this morning that led to the destruction of properties and injuring of some students.
The Central Regional Minister, Kwamina Duncan described the incident as “we cannot sit down for this [violence] to continue” and informed the students that they are to leave the school’s premises by 6 pm until calm has been restored.
Armed policemen have been deployed to the school to prevent further unrest by students who are demanding for the resignation of the Vice Chancellor of the school, Rev Prof Afful-Broni.
