The Coronavirus pandemic has challenged Dr. George Asumadu-Amoateng to extend a helping hand to people of Bosomtwe District. The University of Ghana Medical Centre Director of Pharmaceuticals Department donated loads of items to communities and health facilities within the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.
The items included bags of rice, cooking oils, sanitizers, and liquid soaps. The items which are of necessity were given to various communities and health facilities. Among health institutions to have benefited included the St. Michael’s Hospital at Pramso and the Sawua Community Clinic.
Dr. Amoateng stressed on the need to support ourselves in these difficult times. According to him, he is encouraged to support people of Bosomtwe especially persons who may be severely affected due to the Coronavirus pandemic and its associated lockdown. He thanked the president, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his initiatives, and the various measures put in place to contain the spread of the virus.
The health practitioner who is a front liner in this COVID-19 fight advised the general public. “I know how it feels at this moment when we have been banned from engaging in some commercial activities. It’s non-deniable fact that a lot of us in the district are going to be affected hence this donation to support others who may not be so fortunate” he stressed.
He further used the opportunity to talk about the need to adhere to government directive in curbing the virus. “I would like to advice that we all adhere to the government and the various medical directives for our good” he stated.
He finally pleaded with other fortunate individuals to help Bosomtwe. “I know food is important in this fight but I plead that other persons especially individuals in Bosomtwe will support in whatever direction they can” he further added.
Some beneficiaries expressed their happiness and thanked the Legon worker for the kind gesture. ‘It’s our first donation and we are grateful to Dr. Asumadu for the items. We are in need of PPEs as it’s scarce in the system. We hope he assists us in this direction too”, Stores Manager, St. Michael’s Hospital, stated.
Samuel Solicitor who did the donation on his behalf promised to deliver the message. On his behalf, he also assured that PPEs shall be delivered as soon as possible.
This is not the first time Dr. Amoateng is doing such a thing. He has been doing these gestures for people within the Bosomtwe District including computer donation to some schools within the district.
