In a controversial act that has drawn widespread attention, businessman Dr. Norbert went ahead with his plan to bury his late father in a white Toyota Corolla, despite being cautioned by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Dr. Norbert had sought permission from the EPA prior to the burial, but his request was denied due to violations of environmental laws.
Driven by the strong bond he shared with his father, Dr. Norbert proceeded with the unconventional burial method, disregarding the EPA’s regulations. A video shared on UTV Ghana’s official Twitter page captured the moment when the deceased was laid in a reclined front passenger seat and driven into the grave located on the outskirts of the town.
According to Alhassan Abdul Washeed, UTV’s Upper East Correspondent, Dr. Norbert, who works as a medical practitioner in Navrongo, was invited by the EPA, Kassena Nankana Municipal Assembly, and the National Security to discuss the implications of his actions and the disregard for established regulations. However, Dr. Norbert refused to heed their warnings.
Authorities are now considering potential repercussions for Dr. Norbert’s defiance. It is suspected that he may be directed to exhume his father’s grave as a consequence of flouting rules and disregarding pleas from the concerned authorities.
