Asante Kotoko fans expressed their joy and support for the club’s CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah, following their comeback victory over Aduana Stars on April 23, 2023. The chanting comes in response to rumors about some high-ranking individuals within Kotoko trying to sabotage and have the CEO sacked.
Kotoko came from behind to defeat the league leaders 2-1 in a rainy match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Isaac Mintah gave Aduana Stars the lead with a rebound goal in the 25th minute, but Steven Mukwala equalized for the Reds with a stunning finish just before halftime. Ivorian Eric Zeze sealed the victory for Kotoko in the second half with a brilliant solo run and finish.
After the game, some joyous Kotoko fans chanted Nana Amponsah’s name in the rain, praising and showing their support for him amid the rumors of sabotage. Nana Yaw Amponsah was appointed as Kotoko’s CEO in 2020 on a three-year contract, and he is currently four months away from the end of his contract.
