NPP big shots yesterday at the Manhyia Palace went on their knees to ask for forgiveness from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
According to myjoyonline.com, ‘the plea for forgiveness follows an outburst by the Asantehene that there are active attempts by people close to government to pitch him against the Akyems.’
The Acting General Secretary, John Boadu, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, party Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiakoa and other dignitaries trooped to the Manhyia Palace to avoid the ire of the revered Ashanti King on the central government.
Reports gathered indicated that the Asantehene is not happy with the state of development in Ashanti Region.
Asantehene’s linguist, Baffour Kantankrakyi stepped in to intercede on behalf of the men who were on their knees as the atmosphere was very tense.
‘Your own grandchildren. Regional Minister, the Mayor and John Boadu. They say this is a surprise to them.’
‘As a caring parent, you don’t harbor ill-feeling. They are pleading for pardon. Please, forgive them,’ Otumfuo’s linguist pleaded on their behalf.
John Boadu, furthermore there to ask for Otumfuo’s blessing to secure his approval as the General Secretary ahead of the party’s national executive elections.
