The CEO of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, George Amoako, has said the aim of the management of the club is to make the club get to the level of Egyptian giants Al Ahly and Zamalek, and Congolese giant, TP Mazembe.
Amoako made the statement when he was asked about the club’s termination of the contract of some players.
Amoako defended the club’s decision saying “if you buy something which is not useful, you must throw it away” in other to bring a change.
“The agenda is to push Kotoko to the highest. To the level of Al Ahly, Zamalek and TP Mazembe.”
Kotoko which is Africa’s club of the 20th century has not been able to repeat the heroics they produced in the 80s and 90s.
Al Ahly, TP Mazembe and Zamalek have won the Champions league a combined 18 times with Ahly winning 8 of them while Kotoko is still stuck at 2 since 1983.
