The owner of Obuasi Ashanti Gold, Dr Kwaku Frimpong popularly called Champion has sent a warning to their regional rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko ahead of their Normalization Committee Special Competition Tier 2 semi-final match.
Speaking on Fox FM, Champion, said they will beat Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday with “football made in Obuasi.”
Champion, in the interview, was optimistic that and indicated that since they are playing the match on a neutral ground there is no way Kotoko will beat them.
During the Tier 1 competition, both clubs won their home games and Champions believes this is a clear indication that they will win on the neutral ground.
However, he also indicated that the reason why they lost to Karela United in the semi-final Tier 1 Competition is because of “complacency.”
He said that because they had not lost a game at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi they thought there was no way they were going to lose the game.
Also, when the game got to the 90th-minute mark, they thought it will go on penalties.
Unluckily for them, Karlea had other plans as they scored the only goal of the game in added on time.
Champion also sent a message to his friend and Executive Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr Kwame Kyei ahead of their match.
Champion said Dr Kyei should not leave the stadium before the end of the stadium when his side is winning the game.
