A 22-year-old woman has been arrested by the Kasoa Divisional DOVVSU Command in the Central Region of Ghana for allegedly stealing a 6-month-old baby in Kasoa American Down. The incident took place on October 21, 2023, and the suspect went into hiding until her arrest.
According to information gathered by Kasapa News, the suspect and the baby’s mother lived in the same compound house. The baby’s aunt, Millicent Arthur, explained that her sister, who resided in Mankesim, had come to visit her husband in Kasoa American Down. The baby was temporarily left in the care of the suspect’s junior sister.
When the mother returned, the suspect arrived and asked her junior sister to hand over the baby, claiming she wanted to buy some biscuits for the child. However, when the mother returned, both the suspect and the baby were gone.
A formal complaint was made to the Kasoa Divisional Police Command on the following day, and the suspect was arrested on October 27, 2023, by residents and family members of the victim in Ofaakor.
The suspect is in the custody of the Kasoa Ofaakor Police and will soon be brought before the court. The baby has been reunited with her mother.
