Yaa Asantewaa’s statue removed

The statue of Yaa Asantewaa at Ejisu roundabout has been removed to make way for the use of traffic lights in the area.

Last year, the Minister for Roads and Highway during his visit to Ashanti region to look at the state of the roads made it clear that the roundabouts at Ejisu, Tech and Oduom will be removed as they pose a threat to drivers and pedestrians.

At the moment it is not known if the statue, which has become a symbol for Ejisu will be brought back when the traffic lights are installed.

Although work on the road is expected to begin soon, the roundabout at Tech is yet to be removed.
