Sogne Yacouba has been named in the Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s 19-man squad to that will face Karela United on Friday.
The Burkinabe last played for Kotoko in their game against Ebusua Dwarfs at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and he has since been benched due to his unwillingness to extend his contract.
The coach of Kotoko, Maxwell Konadu named the striker in the team ahead of the game due to Naby Keita’s injury. Keita was not declared fit in time to make it to the Western Region while Kwame Poku who has just signed for the club is not eligible to play for the club.
Konadu was then left with only one striker, William Poku Mensah, therefore, he had no choice than to name Yacouba in the team.
The Post understands Konadu told the management to inform the Executive Chairman of the club, Kwame Kyei the dilemma he is in since he [Kwame Kyei] has made it clear the play will not wear the team’s jersey to play a game until he changes his mind and sign a new contract.
