The coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kjetil Zachariassen is reportedly being investigated by the management of the club for taking over ₵17, 000 from a player.
According to the report, the Ghanaian striker, Mudasiru Salifu after signing for the club decided to give the coach ₵1,750 as a “gift.”
Salifu, according to the report, mistakenly withdrew ₵17,900 from his account and gave all the money to the coach.
Salifu, The Post understands, left Ghana before the current Ghanaian currency came into circulation in 2007, as a result, he does not know much about it. The former Berekum Chelsea player before joining Kotoko spent most of his time in Tunisia and Cote d’Ivoire playing for CS Sfaxien and AS Tanda respectively. Meaning before Salifu left Ghana, GH₵ 0.20 was ₵2, 000 and GH₵2,000 was ₵2, 000, 000.
According to the report, Salifu after withdrawing the money went to see Zachariassen. The manager of Zachariassen, Charles who was with Zachariassen when Salifu went to see him received the money on his behalf.
Salifu after realizing he has given the coach more than what he wanted to give him, informed the coach and asked him to give him his balance.
Zachariassen, on the other hand, told him to contact his manager since he is the one who received the money.
Salifu then told his manager after attempts to get his balance back proved futile. Even with the involvement of his manager, Zachariassen and his manager have refused to give Salifu his balance.
The Post understands Salifu signed a two-year deal with Kotoko after the coach recommended him. Zachariassen, according to reports, has allegedly been taking money from players he recommends for the management to sign.
