Police Corporal survives suicide attempt in Kumasi, undergoes treatment for fractures

In a distressing incident, a Police Corporal in Kumasi is currently recuperating from multiple fractures after a suicide attempt by jumping from a three-storey building in the city’s Central Business District.

Corporal Emmanuel Sarpong, stationed at the Kumasi Ridge Police Station, embarked on this drastic act, as stated in a police situational report obtained by MyNewsGh.com. According to the report, he drove to the Kumasi Central Barracks and climbed a building within the barracks before leaping, resulting in injuries.

Following the incident, Corporal Sarpong was promptly rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, where he was admitted to the emergency ward for immediate medical attention. As of the time of reporting, a visit to the hospital confirmed that he was receiving treatment and exhibiting positive signs of recovery.

The attending Medical Officer at the emergency ward disclosed that the police officer had sustained fractures in both legs. However, the full extent of the fractures is yet to be assessed.
