The Board of Directors of Hearts of Oak has established an Investigative Committee to delve into allegations of bribery involving certain players during the recently concluded season. These accusations have cast a shadow over the club, prompting the board to take swift action in order to ascertain the truth behind these claims.
The committee is scheduled to commence its inquiry on Monday, convening on the 14th floor of the World Trade Centre in Accra, as per insider sources. Witnesses and suspects will be summoned to present their testimonies before the committee, which comprises two Board Members, namely Justice Ivy Heward Mills and Dr. Nyaho Tama. Additionally, a senior official from the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and two legal professionals have been included in the committee’s composition.
The allegations stem from claims that several players from Hearts of Oak participated in a fixed match during the previous season. The club’s disappointing 12th-place finish, accumulating 46 points, has added to the discontent among team members and supporters alike, exacerbating the need for a thorough investigation.
As a prominent football club, Hearts of Oak is committed to upholding the integrity of the game and ensuring fair play. The committee’s primary objective is to meticulously examine the bribery allegations, uncovering the truth and shedding light on the veracity of the claims made against the players involved.
The committee’s findings will be crucial in addressing any misconduct and taking appropriate actions to preserve the club’s reputation. Hearts of Oak remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability within the team, thus safeguarding the principles that underpin the sport.
