The Board of Directors of Hearts of Oak has established an Investigative Committee to delve into allegations of bribery involving certain players during the recently concluded season. The committee is scheduled to commence its inquiry on Monday, convening on the 14th floor of the World Trade Centre in Accra, as per insider sources. Witnesses and suspects will be summoned to present their testimonies before the committee, which comprises two Board Members, namely Justice Ivy Heward Mills and Dr. Nyaho Tama. Additionally, a senior official from the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and two legal professionals have been included in the committee’s composition.
The allegations stem from claims that several players from Hearts of Oak participated in a fixed match during the previous season. The club’s disappointing 12th-place finish, accumulating 46 points, has added to the discontent among team members and supporters alike, exacerbating the need for a thorough investigation.
