Uruguay has eliminated Portugal from the World Cup with 2 amazing goals from PSG’s all-time leading scorer, Edison Cavani.
Cavani scored a goal in each half to send Ronaldo and his men packing.
Cavani scored an astonishing goal in the 7th minute. Cavani gave a long pass to Suarez and moved from the wings into the 18-yard box. The Portugal defenders failed to mark him and Suarez also made sure he sent a long ball to him to direct into the net.
Uruguay had more of the ball in the first half but when they restarted the game, Pepe scored a header from a set piece.
Portugal controlled the second half of the game but Uruguay defended very well.
Uruguay got a counter attack and Cavani again scored a sublime goal by curving the ball to the right side in the 62 minute. The Portuguese goalkeeper had no chance of saving that ball.
Even the introduction of Quaresma could not save Portugal as the Uruguayan defence was too solid for them to penetrate.
Cavani, however, got injured and he was helped off the pitch by Ronaldo.
In added time, Ronaldo was shown the yellow card for complaining and he would have missed the next game had Portugal qualified.
Uruguay will now face France on Friday.
