While people love to see the Asantehene attend events, when it comes to football, he is not welcome by some people.
According to some football fans, his presence at football matches put pressure on the players and it makes it difficult for them to play.
Last week, Otumfuo revealed why he stopped going to the stadium when organizers of the JA Kufuor Cup called on him at the Manhyia Palace.
Otumfuo said that since he became the Asantehene, Kotoko has never lost a match while he is at the stadium but the fans always say they ‘lose a game’ when he is at the stadium.
Opemsuo indicated that some years ago, after a game between Asante ‘Kotoko and a Moroccan club which Kotoko won 3-2,’ a young man told him to ‘stay home’ during such matches when he was returning to the Manhyia Palace.
He added that he later found out that although Kotoko won the game, they lost the match on aggregate as they lost the first leg in Morocco.
Since then, he has not been to the stadium to watch football again.
