The Electoral Commission workers who petitioned the President to remove the former EC boss, Charlotte Osei from office today at a press conference in Accra said they are happy with the outcome of their petition.
The EC staff in their petition told the President that the former EC boss ‘abused her office, breach of trust and conflict of interest’.
Also, they said at the press conference that they are willing to petition the Special Prosecutor to take up the matter and prosecute the former EC boss.
“We are also prepared to submit to the Special Prosecutor a complaint and evidence of her [Charlotte Osei] dealings with other companies and individuals which we deem to amount to abuse of office, breach of trust and conflict of interest,” they said.
Moreover, they debunked the rumours that the petitioned that was sent to the President had no petitioners.
“It is unthinkable to suggest that the president of the Republic of Ghana would receive a petition without petitioners and forward same to the chief justice who would proceed to make a prima facie determination without first satisfying themselves that there were petitioners,” one of the petitioners said Sulemana said.
The group also made it clear that they will do everything within their means to ensure that the removal of the EC boss ‘is permanent and cast in stone’.
