News has been making waves that Ghana could face visa sanctions by the United States of America.
The US ambassador to Ghana, Robert Jackson has indicated in an interview that ‘it is not a threat, I don’t want it to be a threat’.
The news came out due to the bad collaboration between Ghana and the United States to put things in place to deport a large of number of Ghanaians living in the United States illegally.
Robert Jackson went on to say he wants Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States to collaborate so that they find a solution to the problem at hand.
‘We wouldn’t have to be going public if we have seen regular action by the Ghanaian government’, he said.
According to the Ambassador, they had no option than to go public because of the irregular process that is not in place.
Just as Ghana has the right to deport people, the US also has the right to deport people as well.
‘I talk to Members of Parliament, I talk to people in the old government, I talk to people in the current government’, he said.
He made it clear he has been talking to the government of Ghana for over 2 years.
‘I am acting on instructions. This is not something that I am an initiator’.
Robert Jackson made it clear that they ‘will enforce’ their ‘deportation laws’.
China, Philippines, India and Russia are the countries with the highest number of illegal immigrants facing deportation from the USA more than Ghana.
